RNZAF recruiting for Boy Entrant School was restricted to boys aged between 16 and 17.5
The majority of our 60 successful applicants would have sat their 5th form (Year 11) School Certificate Examinations in 1958.
As part of the Boy Entrant School selection process, all wannabe airmen underwent a full day of rigorous pre-entry exams and assessments at the RNZAF base nearest to their home town.
Effective RNZAF recruiting initiatives carried out through all regions of New Zealand ensured that recruits came from a very wide range of towns and cities, bringing together a healthy variety of experiences and backgrounds.
This diversity ensured an amazing level of camaraderie quickly developed when this egalitarian group of adolescent lads, all total strangers, were thrown together at Boy Entrant School and began what would become quite possibly the most formative adventure of their lives.
Successful applicants would have received their notification via an official letter.
