60th REUNION 09.01.2019

#13 Course 60th Anniversary Dinner

Greetings and Salutations from Wine Country.

To celebrate the 60 years since we first walked through the gates at RNZAF Base Woodbourne on the 9th January 1959, our local Chapter of #13 Course have deliberated & after much discussion at our monthly meetings it was decided that
we will be commemorating this 60th Anniversary with Fine Dinning at

 Saveur Cafe, Bistro & Patisserie

Following Dinner we will retire to the RSA Lounge of the Clubs of Marlborough for afters.

(For those passing through Blenheim who may wish join us ~ We always meet there on the last Wednesday of the month)

In addition to the dinner, visitors to the area may be interested in visiting the Heritage Centre or a tour of our local Wineries.

All will be on, make your own arrangements, and user pays basis.

As an event of significant interest which is worthy of it’s own celebration, Ian Hingston will also have completed 60 years of working for NZDF.

NB: To avoid me pestering the miscreants who have not yet replied, can I please have a
  +ve or -ve return ASAP
of your intention to attend.

I need to finalise our booking numbers with Saveur by 15th Dec 2018.

To date we have 17+ members and partners attending. Sadly health concerns have become a major consideration for attendance by some.

NB: Can those who have sent a +ve return please confirm the numbers attending.

Doug & Jan Beswick have graciously offered to pick you up from the Airport & Picton Ferry.

Kind Regards

Our 60th Reunion of #13 Boy Entrant Course joining the RNZAF was very successful.

This time it was Fine Dining at 'Saveur'. I think all who were able to attend would have been happy with the dinner and the service given by the staff at 'Saveur'. The set menu (copy attached) was comprehensive with most of the food groups covered.

Unfortunately our plan for after dinner drinks at the Clubs of Marlborough was a washout as they were closing as we arrived. It would appear nightlife in Blenheim is still a non event except maybe for Friday & Saturday.

A bit of a shame as we were not able to fix the woes of the world and tell porkies to each other, not withstanding the consensus was the evening was successful.

During the evening we had a minutes silence to reflect & remember all who are no longer with us.

It was felt any further reunions should be at 5 year intervals rather than 10.

A few took the opportunity to visit the Aviation Heritage Centre at Omaka. The Centre has been upgraded to separate WW1 & WW11 exhibitions. There is also a car museum next door.

Below are some pictures from the evening.

NB If anyone would like a copy of a picture, can you please identify the picture & whether you would like the annotated version or not. The original pictures sizes are in the order of 8 ~ 10 MB each.

Kind regards
